Securing your Legacy
You work hard for your family, so knowing that you have carefully planned for their long-term well-being and financial security can bring you comfort. I will help you evaluate the issues in your estate planning, and guide you toward the best means of transferring your assets, minimizing estate taxes, protecting your loved ones, caring for your pets, and supporting your personal charitable causes.

Drafting your Last will and Testament
Your Last Will and Testament provides the opportunity to distribute your property, establish care for your minor children and otherwise express your wishes upon your death. A will is especially necessary if you intend to leave property to a person or entity other than a blood relative, such as a domestic partner, a friend or a charity. If you die without a will, state law determines how your property is distributed, who cares for your minor children and even what happens to your pet — taking away from you decisions that might not reflect your desires.

I can draft a valid Last Will and Testament that will ensure that your personal intentions are honored.

SPECIAL ESTATE PLANNING PACKAGE: I will prepare a simple Will, Durable Power of Attorney, and Living Will/Health Care Proxy for you for $350.00. This fee includes the office consultation, preparation of the documents, and execution of these documents in my office.

Changing your Will to Reflect Changes in Your Life
As time passes, your estate planning decisions may also change. You may need to update your will throughout your life. Changes that may affect your Will include marital status, the birth or death of beneficiaries, changes in your friends or preferred charities, changes regarding your executor or trustee, or changes in the size of your estate. Such changes may require a codicil (addition) to your Will, or the drafting of a new Will. Any such changes to your Will must be drafted and executed just as carefully as your original Will.

Appointment of a Guardian for Your Minor Children

If you have minor children, your Will allows you to make decisions about their future care. This is especially crucial if you are a single parent or if both parents die in a common accident. In such cases, if you do not name a guardian in your Will, the court will appoint a guardian for your children, and may make decisions adverse to your ultimate parenting goals.
